Our aim is to win the final and snatch the title from South Korea: Fulton

Rajgir (Bihar)– Indian men’s hockey team head coach Craig Fulton expressed delight after India’s commanding victory over China in their last Super 4 clash, which sealed a berth in the 12th Men’s Hockey Asia Cup final.

Speaking after the win, Fulton said, “I’m very happy with how the team played as a unit to reach the final. Against China, we set the tone early in the first two quarters, which decided the course of the match. We had also played well in our 2–2 draw with South Korea earlier. Now, our aim is clear – to win the final and snatch the title from South Korea, the defending champions.”

Fulton stressed that the team is not taking South Korea lightly. “We must treat the final like any other match. Our focus and processes will remain the same. We will look to improve in areas where necessary. The positive takeaway from the China match was that we didn’t concede a single penalty corner or goal, keeping them away from our D with disciplined defending.”

He also highlighted captain Harmanpreet Singh’s role, praising his drag-flicking ability and long aerial passes that create opportunities for strikers. “Under Harmanpreet’s leadership, we have a solid defensive line and a creative outlet in attack,” Fulton added.

India, chasing its fourth Asia Cup crown, will face South Korea in the much-anticipated final, hoping to convert their momentum into a historic triumph.
